Episode makes personalised t-shirts at episode04.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we need it, and your rights under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, and your name and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
- Your designs: the photos you upload and the text you add (location, artist, date and caption).
- Orders: what you ordered, your delivery address and your order history.
- Payments: Yoco processes your payment. We receive a payment reference and status — never your card details.
- Technical information: basic logs, such as IP address and browser, that keep the site secure and working.
Why we use it
- To sign you in and keep your account and designs.
- To print, deliver and support your orders, and to email you about them.
- To prevent fraud and abuse.
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't send you marketing unless you have agreed to it.
Who we share it with
Only what each of them needs to do their job:
- Yoco, to process payments.
- Our print partners, who see your design and order to make your tee.
- Couriers, who get your name and delivery address to deliver your order.
- Service providers that run Episode: Google Cloud (hosting and storage), Google Maps (address search at checkout) and our email provider.
Some of these providers store information outside South Africa. We only use providers that protect it to a standard comparable with POPIA.
How long we keep it
- Your account and designs: until you delete them or ask us to close your account.
- Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (currently five years).
Cookies
We only use the cookies needed to sign you in and keep sign-in secure. Your cart is saved in your own browser. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.
Your rights
Under POPIA you can ask us to:
- confirm what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct or delete it;
- stop using it for a particular purpose.
Email hello@episode04.com. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Regulator.
Security
We protect your information with access controls, encrypted connections and reputable hosting. If a security breach affects your information, we'll tell you as POPIA requires.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update this page and the date above, and email you about significant changes.
